Virgil L. Kobernick

Virgil L. Kobernick, 82, of La Crosse and formerly of Cataract, died Friday, January 9, 2026 at Hearten House II, La Crosse. He was born in Tomah, WI on March 25, 1943 to Fred and Mae (Jenks) Kobernick.

Virgil worked for Habelman’s Cranberry Marsh in Tomah for 24 years. He lived in Cataract and took care of his cows, chickens, and cats. He mowed lawns for local cemeteries in the area. He enjoyed spending time with his special friends, Dylan and Deanna Amundson.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta. Private burial will be at a later time in Mt Vernon Cemetery, Tomah. Online condolences may be offered at www.schanhoferfh.com.
