Wallace “Wally” H. Lewis, 84, of Sparta, died Friday, January 26, 2024 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on August 29, 1939 in Mankato, MN to Ervin and Loretta (Zinke) Lewis.

The highlight of his career as a water treatment specialist was getting to live and work in Yellowstone National Park. It was during this time that he also got to live out his dream of being a cowboy by taking several trips to the backcountry and participating in one cattle drive. Wally also loved shooting, muscle cars and trucks.
Wally is survived by his son, Scott (Tabitha) Lewis of Havre, MT and daughter, Charlotte (Mike) Peters of Sparta; 8 grandchildren, Zack, Nick, Robin, Tristan, Eric, Connor, Duncan, and Marin; 2 sisters, Devera Gruber and Diann (Jack) McGowan; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends who were very important to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wives, Ellen (Larson) and Phyllis (Simon).
Per his wishes, there will be no services at this time. Online condolences may be offered at www.schanhoferfh.com. Donations may be offered in Wally’s honor, to the Yellowstone Park Foundation at https://www.yellowstonenationalpark.com/yellowstoneparkfoundation.htm
