William "Bud" F. Breslin

January 9, 1941 ~ November 7, 2020 (age 79) 79 Years Old

William "Bud" Breslin Obituary

     William “Bud” Breslin, 79, lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, November 7, 2020. Bud was born in Clear Lake, WI to Kenneth and Helen (Gullickson) Breslin on January 9, 1941.

     Bud was an all-conference athlete and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1959. He went on to graduate from UW La Crosse in 1963. Bud enlisted in the United States Air Force on August 2, 1966 until his honorable discharge on July 31, 1970.  Bud was stationed in Mississippi when he met Anne Meyer and her son Tom. They were married in 1970 and moved to Wisconsin, this union later ended in divorce.

     Bud started his teaching career in Fond du Lac before moving to Sparta. He taught and coached at Sparta High School for almost 30 years, retiring in 1999. He made Sparta his home where he had many lifelong friends. Besides being an avid racquetball player, Bud enjoyed golf in his retirement. He was affectionately known as ‘Bud Rock’ to many. Bud enjoyed friendly debates, lively conversation and cheering on his beloved Packers, Badgers and Brewers. Bud spent many happy years with his fiancé Betty Jacobs before mourning her death in 1999.

     Bud is survived by his four sisters, Arla Meyers, Jan (Wendell) Klatt, Rhonda Leslie and LuAnn Breslin; step-son, Tom Breslin; nieces and nephews: Michelle Sheerer, Minette Rhedin, Mark (Paula) Rhedin, Melissa (Theodore) Andrews, Michael Rhedin, Tim (Lynn) Klatt, Tracy (Tony) Bevers, Tom (Toni) Klatt, Troy (Shelly) Klatt, Trisha (Bill) Nelson, Tayne (Jason) Hall, Shannon (Brandon) Leslie and Mandi (Brian) Skifter; and many great nieces and nephews and numerous friends.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, Ken and Helen Breslin, brothers-in-law, Gary Leslie and Del Meyers; nephew, Cody Reindahl; and great nephews, Jessie Swift and Tyler Bevers.

      A Celebration of Life will be held for Bud from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the Market Bar in Sparta. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.schanhoferfh.com
